If you’re a coffee snob and you live to hunt down cute coffee shops/cafes, I’ve got a list of the most aesthetically pleasing, cutest coffee shops in Hawaii (O’ahu specifically) that will have you browsing for plane tickets… like, yesterday.
I know that sounds like a bit of a stretch, but Hawaii is very well-known for its coffee! There are farms across the Hawaiian islands that grow some of the best coffee you can get. So, naturally, local coffee shops do tend to promote locally-grown coffee beans.
Nothing matches Hawaiian coffee quite like the island vibes and the quirky hipster surf scene. Imagine waking up, heading to the coffee shop to get some fuel, and heading out to the ocean. There’s nothing like it.
Yes, I may get backlash for unveiling some of these locations… But if you know me, I love coffee. I always look for good coffee in cool places. If a shop puts in the effort to make a product I love, they deserve the shout-out.
So if you’re craving a good coffee shop that will feed your body and spirit, get some Hawaiian coffee and good vibes at any of these locations!
1. Island Brew Coffeehouse
Island Brew Coffeehouse in Hawaii Kai is probably my favorite on the whole island. It’s hard not to rank it at the very top with its indoor-outdoor setting and placement right on the water. It’s a very popular study spot and has really great coffee, acai bowls, and smoothies. Their second location is in Ala Moana, but I really prefer sitting by the water with my coffee.
2. Coffee Talk
Another favorite, located in Kaimuki just outside of Honolulu proper. The entire block is an up-and-coming hipster area, and you can just feel how hipster it is.
Coffee Talk is a large space that attracts many people dining in and taking out. That being said, there are plenty of small seating areas and hidey-holes that allow fellow coffee lovers to sip in peace. It’s great for studying/remote work, but it’s probably best for meetups with friends considering it does get pretty busy… unless you’re really good at ignoring people. Then you’re fine.
But remember, a busy shop means they’re doing something right.
3. Morning Brew Coffee
Honestly, just look at that shop. Do you need any more reason to visit?
If you do, then let me just mention that they also have rotating art installations, loft-style seating, and banging breakfast/lunch menu. Even it’s location in Salt Kaka’ako is perfect, smack in the middle of great restaurants and cute boutiques.
It’s all very nice. Just go.
4. Surfer’s Coffee
You know a coffee shop oozes aesthetic when their Instagram is on point. Surfers Coffee is located in Wahiawa, halfway up the H2 to North Shore. The shop is known for its great space and its live music. It has indoor/outdoor seating and is located in the middle of a blossoming town.
5. Arvo
Another coffee shop on the list from Salt Kaka’ako! Arvo is a bit pricey, but if you’re looking for outdoor aesthetic and clean vibes, this is your spot. Not totally sure if this IG photo is staged, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was completely raw. This post captures exactly what you’ll feel when you sit at Arvo… eternally youthful. Maybe it’s their coffee.
